Random reading, and a thank you.

I decided tonight on the way home I wanted to read a new book: a book completely off my radar, one I hadn't planned on reading, something I'm not familiar with, although, of course, something I already owned. So, I went into the room, didn't put the light on, and went to a random shelf, and ran my fingers across the spines. I stopped, pulled the book out, walked out with it and read the title under the light of the stairs. I don't do this often, but I should. I love random reading. And the title? The Nun, by Denis Diderot. Fate quite clearly wants me to stick with Gothic!

I began reading it in the bath, but didn't get too far through: I was covered in mud, for a start, and decided that the bath should be used for it's intended purpose, not lolling around in it reading and drinking ginger beer, but of the eight pages I've read, I am enjoying it very much.

I do love this method of selection! So this is what I shall be reading tonight, and I'm quite excited, especially as this will be my first read of 18th Century French Literature!

And, let me also take this opportunity to thank The Classics Club once again, this time for featuring my post "Reading the Classics". It was a lovely surprise, especially following being voted Classic Clubber of the Month! Thank you, I'm very grateful :)
